Need an off-grid air conditioning solution for your RV? The Kingtec KTD-3 12V RV Rooftop Air Conditioner (11000 BTU) is the perfect solution for RV air conditioning when there isn't plug-in power for miles around. This Kingtec, equipped with a variable-speed compressor, draws so little power that it can easily run off your RV "house" battery bank, enabling hours of cooling without being plugged in. This 12-volt air conditioner is very electrically-efficient, providing 11000 BTUs of cooling while using at most 50A@12VDC. Kingtec 12V air conditioners are now used by quality US van upfitters like OutsideVan, Freedom Vans, and Master Overland, among many others.

The Kingtec KTD-3 12V RV Rooftop Air Conditioner is a low-profile unit that's only 7.5 inches high, so you won't have the window noise and drag that you might have with a typical 120V high-profile RV air conditioner. You also won't need to carry and maintain a portable generator just to be able to run an air conditioner, or need a large hardwired inverter. With a larger battery bank (like 400-600AH), you may be able to get up to 8 hours of continuous cooling off batteries alone.

Not sure which air conditioner model to get? Use a BTU calculator to determine your cooling requirements. Calculate the interior dimensions of your space, your insulation level (because it's a van with windows and not much thermal mass, I'd select "poor"), and desired temperature increase - calculate the maximum cooling output you might ever need, and size your air conditioner to be capable of that.

Note: Lithium battery bank minimum of 300AH recommended. The Kingtec is large and must ship via truck freight, shipping is $99.
