Need quiet, powerful heating for your camper van? The Planar 2D Air Heater (Diesel, 7000 BTU) is a compact, fuel-efficient, diesel-powered air heater that will keep you warm and dry on even the coldest nights.

Compared to a typical noisy propane RV furnace, a Planar diesel heater will use less fuel to generate more heat, and can easily be tapped into the main vehicle fuel tank so you don't need a separate fuel tank for the heater. The Planar 2D works fine at high altitude as well, it automatically adjusts for operation at high altitude. It has been formally tested at altitudes up to 8500 feet (2600 meters). 

This complete Planar air heater kit contains every component you need for a camper van/motorhome installation, including the heater, exhaust and intake tubing, fuel tap, etc. Fuel tanks are sold separately. 

Not sure which model to get? Use a BTU calculator to calculate the interior dimensions of your space, your insulation level (because it's a van with windows and not much thermal mass, I'd select "poor"), and desired temperature increase - calculate the maximum heat output you might ever need, and size your heater to be capable of that.

Note: This diesel-powered air heater can operate from low to high temperatures. However, like any diesel heater, you should periodically ensure you are running the heater at the highest temperature (every 12 hours of run-time, approximately) to burn off the soot created by low-temperature use. If you do not do this, you will get thick white exhaust smoke from the soot buildup inside the combustion chamber.

Note: If you are installing this heater on a 2007+ Mercedes Sprinter, you may have the KL1 auxiliary fuel tap installed on the top front of your fuel tank. If so, the fuel line is typically a 5/16" nylon line which can connect to the Planar heater with an adapter like the Dorman 800-188 fuel line adapter. If you do not have a fuel tap already installed on your fuel tank, you may need to drop the fuel tank to install the fuel tap.
