Founded by racer and entrepreneur Raymond Barre, RB Components began in 1999 from an obvious need for better organization on the road. As a competitive jet ski racer, Barre spent countless weekends traveling to events and recognized the value of efficient, durable storage solutions for trailers and support vehicles. What started as handcrafted organizers built in Southern California quickly gained attention throughout the motorsports community and evolved into a company that would help pioneer the modern adventure van industry.
As demand grew, major motorcycle brands including Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Yamaha, and KTM turned to RB Components for custom race haulers. When KTM requested a Sprinter van instead of a traditional trailer, RB adapted its existing cabinet systems and storage solutions to fit the platform, helping pave the way for the company's expansion into the van industry.
Jamie Foreman, RB Components Sales Manager explains, "Many of our flagship products have been around for years. We simply adapted them for vans, taking what worked in trailers and refining the designs to fit the van platform."
"We were truly the very first Sprinter van-specific parts and product manufacturer out there."

By 2014 and 2015, the emergence of four-wheel-drive Sprinter vans created a new opportunity. RB Components introduced their first adventure van build the “Sawtooth Van”, and the project quickly gained traction online. The demand for modular van interiors and adventure-ready systems exploded.
Becoming one of the first manufacturers producing Sprinter-specific products such as:
- Headliner shelves
- Aluminum cabinetry systems
- Dinette systems
- Panel beds
- Modular galley cabinets
- Van-specific organizational accessories
Rather than keeping their products exclusive to custom builds, RB opened its catalog to DIY builders and other upfitters. Helping to position the company as both a van builder and a foundational supplier within the industry.

Designed for Function, Flexibility, and Adventure
One of the defining characteristics of RB Components products is their focus on real-world usability. Continually driven by the company’s roots in action sports, motorcycles, racing, and adventure travel, every product is engineered with durability, lightweight construction, and modularity in mind.
"We want people to get more out of their vans. That means carrying the gear they need, bringing along the toys they enjoy, and having the storage to make every trip easier"
Instead of creating one rigid system, RB Components developed products that can work independently or alongside products from other manufacturers. Customers can purchase products individually, allowing van builders to mix and match layouts.
Popular products such as brace kits, wall systems, cabinetry, beds, and furniture are all designed to function as foundational building blocks rather than restrictive all-in-one systems.
USA Made, All-Aluminum Components
While many van builders rely heavily on wood cabinetry, RB Components has spent years refining lightweight aluminum systems that are more durable and better suited to the realities of vehicle travel.
Aluminum offers several advantages:
- Reduced vehicle weight
- Increased durability
- Greater flexibility while driving
- Better longevity on rough terrain
- Easier modular integration
Reducing weight and adding increased durability and flexibility offers serious advantages for every well-used adventure van build. Jamie explains, "Vehicles need a certain amount of flexibility because roads are rough and constantly changing. The materials inside need to move with the vehicle, not fight against it."
To combat common concerns surrounding aluminum interiors, including vibration and rattling RB refines its systems with soft-close latches, rubber bumpers, and noise-reduction details throughout their cabinetry and furniture.
The result is an industrial-inspired interior aesthetic that remains functional, modular, and purpose-built without sacrificing comfort.

RB Components manufactures nearly all of its products in-house at its Southern California facility.
Over the years, the company invested heavily in CNC machinery and fabrication equipment, allowing the team to control production quality, streamline manufacturing, and maintain flexibility with inventory and customization.
“We manufacture nearly everything in-house at our Southern California facility, which gives us greater control over quality, production, and innovation.”
The company sources most of its materials domestically whenever possible, while handling fabrication internally before final finishing and powder coating.
This manufacturing approach allows RB Components to:
- Produce small production runs efficiently
- Maintain tighter quality control
- Adapt products quickly

For more than 25 years, RB Components has stayed true to a simple philosophy: build practical, durable products that work in the real world. Keeping constant focus on lightweight construction, long-term reliability, and original designs that make life on the road easier.
From their early beginning organizing race trailers to becoming a pioneer in adventure van components, RB Components has built a reputation on functionality, craftsmanship, and a genuine understanding of how people use their vehicles.
“We’re proud of what we’ve built over the years and honored to be part of an industry that continues to inspire innovation and adventure."
